We like to stay in touch – not just in the short-term, but for the full life of your dog.

We are always available to help answer questions and we just love it when you send us written and photographic updates.

THE WINDSOR GROUP

Crossroads Canine Academy in Windsor Ontario has a good group of students who own a Herdabout Sheltie.  We thank them very much for getting them all together for a group photo.  These Herdabout Shelties are training in classes of Agility, Rally and Obedience.  Some have been out competing and have earned titles along with a few HITs.

Way to go Crossroads Canine Academy for successfully training the Herdabout Shelties in the Windsor area !

Cruz

Herdabout Tri The Cruz Control ADC SGDC AGDC AADC MADC ExSt Bronz

Cruz is handled, trained and loved by Karen Jackson-Izzard in Nova Scotia.  This awesome team attended their first ever AAC Nationals in 2011 and earned placed 13th overall with individuals ribbons/placements taking a 6th place in Jumpers and a 9th place in Standard.

Even though Cruz is somewhat more reserved than most of our performance puppies, he is super smart, very trainable and loves to gamble which is reflected in his many accomplishments in Agility at such a young age.  Way to go Karen & Cruz !!!

JOVI

Herdabout Little Miss Rockstar HIC, SGDC, MGDC, 1PGB, 2PGB

For those who think they need to have a backyard full of regulation agility equipment to practice on, Jovi is living proof that you do not.  Jovi's owner Crystal lives in an apartment with no yard, and does not own any agility equipment.  While Crystal and Jovi do attend agility classes on a regular basis, her accomplishments in agility have been phenomenal with their limited access to equipment.

At just 2.5 years of age -- remember that dogs cannot compete in agility until 1.5 years of age -- Jovi has made the Top Dogs list for agility in both PSDC and AAC for both 2010 and 2011.

Jovi attended her first ever 2011 AAC Ontario Regionals and took 9th Place Overall

Jovi's Regional Individual Event Ribbons

4th - Gamblers
6th - Gamblers
6th - Jumpers
7th - Jumpers

Then Jovi and Crystal were off to the 2011 AAC National Championships and took 15th Place Overall - not bad for a baby dog !

Jovi's National Individual Event Ribbons

1ST PLACE - Gamblers - WHOOHOO - best run ever

6th - Gamblers

We are so proud of our little sheltie girl that looks like she is wearing rockstar makeup (thus the name) and so happy that Crystal chose Herdabout Shelties as the breeder to get her performance dog from.

DOUBLE TROUBLE !?!

The sheltie on the left is Herdabout Comet's Last Fling (aka Fling) and the sheltie on the right is her dad GMOTCH Redpine Hailey's Comet AGI AGIJ RE (aka Comet).  Fling is living with her dad and is proudly owned by renowned obedience trainer and respected judge Isobel Hutton.  We are expecting great things from this puppy girl as she is the mirror image of her dad, but with a much more saucy attitude.

Wager

Herdabout All Bets Are Off  "Wager"

born :  February 28, 2011

Parents :  Ch Aberdale Quicksilver X Aberdale Blak Gold (pointed)

This little bi-black boy showed remarkable talent for agility right from five weeks of age, when he moved with his litter into the agility playpen.  His favorite thing was climbing through the tire jump and bouncing on and off the mini agility table.

Wager's structure and movement will be sure to earn him a Canadian Conformation Championship as soon as he is old enough to compete.  His owner (Rebecca) is a very talented and dedicated handler that will bring Wager to reach his true potential in agility.

See a youtube video of Wager & Rebecca in training.

THE BLUE BEAUTIES

in Nova Scotia

" Echo & Cloud "

Both are loved, owned and trained by

Courtney Stevens of Nova Scotia

ECHO      Herdabout Bouncing Back CGN, PCD, HIC

Parents :  Ch. Herdabout Hamming It Up RN, CGN  x

Herdabout Zoom Zoom Zoom RN, CGN

Echo is a well-rounded dog in all aspects.  Echo has achieved his first title in CKC obedience and his Canine Good Neighbour certificate all before the age of two.  As a young puppy he took a strong interest in agility and is extremely active and enthusiastic at the local agility club that performs at exhibitions and senior/special care facilities.  Currently, he is training competitively to eventually trial in CKC events.  He is also an annual "supporter" of Purina's Walk for Dog Guides and other charity walks where he can mingle.  At six months of age, Echo achieved his herding instinct certificate due to his strong instinct to work with sheep and next year he will be training in this avenue on PEI as well as continuing his fly ball classes.  Echo truly is a dream come true.

CLOUD    Herdabout A Silver Lining

Parents :  Ch. Herdabout Hamming It Up, RN, CGN  x  Herdabout Trouble A Brewing RN, CGN

Cloud is very opinionated and full of spunk, but she also possesses unconditional loyalty.  Cloud is phenomenally intelligent and learns most commands by observational learning.  She is becoming the "one to watch" at the agility club as she learns all obstacles, tricks and commands so easily.

Currently, she is training for CKC obedience work to hopefully achieve her PCD title within the next year.  She also loves being escorted around in the car and teasing her big brother, Echo.

STARR

Herdabout Manifest Destiny CD CRNMCL

Ch Herdabout Hamming It Up RN CGN  X  Herdabout Trouble A Brewing RN CGN

Starr is a joy to have as a training partner.  He's intelligent, willing and seems to wear a permanent grin.  He trains in multiple disciplines, including Obedience, Rally Obedience, Agility and Canine Freestyle.  He has achieved both his CD and his CRNMCL shortly after turning one year old (he would have actually gotten his Rally title at 7 months, but all of his scores were under the same judge).  His favourite activities include skateboarding, jumping over random objects and retrieving any object that fits into his mouth (whether or not you actually want him to retrieve the object in question).

He's a faithful companion and a constant source of amusement.

Please watch a couple of Starr's videos here :  link to youtube video  &  second youtube video

QUIN

Herdabout The Mighty Quinlan RN.  "Quin"  is owned, trained and loved by Eryn Watson-MacDonell.  Eryn has done an amazing job training this young dog.  At just 7 months of age he entered his first rally trials and earned 3 qualifying rounds, but all were under the same judge.  Then at his second trial, Quin went on to earn that last leg under a different judge and went above and beyond the call of duty.  At just 8 months of age Quin took the Highest Score in the whole Trial, was the top scoring sheltie, and the youngest dog at the trial ... way to go Quin and Eryn !   We just can't wait to see what this team will do next year (2011) in obedience and agility.  Quin is the full littermate to Capri (multiple BPIG Ch Herdabout Lil Miss Smartypants RN).

Porsche

Herdabout Miss Formula One  "Porsche".  This little super fast and super smart puppy is now living and training with Jean and Dave Bruce, owners and head trainers of Crossroads Canine Academy in Windsor Ontario

We expect great things from this very classy little fire craker of a sheltie.  Porsche is a Trim X Tuvok puppy and the litter sister of Bluey (Herdabout Blu E Nuff) who is remaining here at Herdabout Shelties.

Here is Porsche, sitting in a Porsche.

Capri

Capri is co-owned with Shirley Beere, and finished her Canadian Conformation Championship in just one weekend of showing at 7 months of age.

Just 3 weeks later Capri finished her Rally Novice obedience title.  Capri is also well underway in her agility foundations training as well as formal obedience.

Her Dam is our girl Whoopi and her Sire is our boy Silver.  She is a full sister from a repeat breeding one year apart to Paisley Ch Herdabout Small Town Girl RN PCD AGNJ (also co-owned with Shirley Beere).

We give a big congratulations to Shirley and the amazing job she has done training these two sisters.

As of October 12, 2010 :

Capri stands in the top 10 conformation Sheltie puppies in Canada with seven Best Puppy In Group wins as well as her taking a Herding Group 2 placement at the 2010 Purina Puppy Classic show held in September 2010 at Subury.

With a couple of more shows to go before the end of the year, we are aiming to move up into the top 5 sheltie puppies in Canada for 2010.

Olympic Torch and Madden & Callum

Two special Herdabout Shelties got to spend time with the 2010 Olympic Torch during its cross country run.

On the left is Madden (held by owner Stephanie)

and on the right is Callum (held by owner Jean Bruce).

Paisley

Ch. Herdabout Small Town Girl RN PCD earned her Canadian Conformation Championship as a Senior Puppy, as well as her Rally Novice with two High In Class scores, and her Pre-Companion Dog obedience title all before turning 1 year of age.  Way to Go Shirley !  Great job with Paisley !

Hershey

Herdabout The Chocolate Rocket CGN

Working as a Therapy Dog with Seniors !

Hershey is now living on the outskirts of Toronto and is visiting seniors in Hospitals and nursing homes.  Who could resist giving this sweet and sensitive guy a cuddle and a kiss?

Copper

Three titles to his name by the age of 10 months.

Being one of our favorite dogs of all time, it was hard for us to part with Copper.  But he now has the best home we could have asked for, as he is surrounded by love and is getting all the attention he deserves.

Darcy

Herdabout Pride and Prejudice

Princess or Wonder Woman?   email from new owners :

Just thought I would share a story about Darcy with you.  I was on nights and my husband was home with the kids.  Everyone was all snug in their beds.  Around 4:30 am Darcy started running up and down the hall barking.  Dwayne said enough (which is suppose to be her cue to be quiet).  She was persistent, barking in the bedroom now.  So, Dwayne got up to see what the problem was....A pipe had burst in the basement and somehow Darcy heard it!!!

There was minimal water damage as the problem had be caught so quickly.  She sure is a smart cookie.  We were all amazed at what she did!!

What a good girl she is.

Connor

Personality Plus.

This handsome guy was the star of his obedience classes with his new owners in the Milton area.  He is now in training for agility and reports are that he just loves it.  His daddy is Dash, and his grandpa is Tuvok, so watch out for Connor at an agility trial near you.

Visa

Anaheim Herdabout Overdraft CGN RN

UNTRAINABLE!!.... Just a brood bitch!...????

Absolutely not !  This super smart cutie pie spent a brief 2 months with another breeder and was returned to us with the above comments.

Within a month of being back home with us, and a quick refresher course to remind Visa of all the training we had done with her as a puppy, little Visa went to her first dog show and earned her Rally Novice title with 3 High In Class scores.  Visa then went on to receive her CGN later that same week.

Visa is now on a breeding co-ownership where she gets to spend her winters in Florida...lucky dog.
