Riker
was a sheltie who was blessed with the true essence of the
old fashioned sheltie character. His ability to
understand and respond to training was exceptional.
Those who had the opportunity to observe him in competition
could plainly see that he was not just another dog.
Riker was so receptive to his handler's (Kellie) commands,
so eager to please, so happy to work, so communicative, that
many bystanders marveled and commented on his attentiveness
and teamwork. He received his CGN and two qualifying
rounds to his PCD title as a puppy. His CD was earned
by 14 months of age. His obedience scores were always
in the 190's with multiple High In Class awards. Riker
had a unique habit of breaking into a smile at the both the
start and finish of an obedience exercise. Riker was
working towards his CDX and RA, as well as in training for a
promising agility career when his young life came to a tragic
and undeserving end.
