2006 proved to be a GREAT year for Herdabout Shelties click here to see what we accomplished.

In just 5 months, from Victoria Day weekend in May to the weekend after Thanksgiving,  we (Jeff & Kellie) managed to put 20 (YES TWENTY!) new titles in both Agility and Obedience on four of our shelties!!!  It was a truly amazing year with lots of hard work training but the results were well worth it.  We did agility  at the Sheltie National Specialty in Ottawa with 99 F weather in the blazing sun and at the Sudbury Kennel Club agility trials in the snow!  We had a lot of fun, and so did the dogs!

Tuvok is handled by Jeff in both Agility and Obedience.  Anyone who saw Tuvok in action in agility was amazed at his speed.  Although Tuvok received his two Novice Jumpers titles right at the start of the season  we kept him back from moving up to Intermediate to help build control over this firecracker.  Tuvok probably had enough qualifying rounds in Novice Jumpers to earn his title 5 times over!  Tuvok earned 4 titles in 2006:  CGN PCD AGNJ AGNJS.  Watch for Tuvok and Jeff in 2007

Trim is handled by Jeff in both Agility and Obedience.  Trim is a delight to train and just loves agility.  She moved quickly through all four Novice Agility titles and usually received 1st place.  Trim received 5 titles in 2006:  CGN AGN AGNJ AGNS AGNJS and has legs towards her Intermediate Agility titles as well as two legs towards her Pre Novice Obedience title and is ready to move to Novice Obedience.  Trim will be bred to Piper in the fall of  2007 (there will be agility babies for sale!) then back to the work she loves to do.

Watch for Trim and Jeff in 2007!

Riker is trained and handled by Kellie.  Riker just loves doing obedience, anyone who saw him competing would think he was unhappy judging by his expression but he is just so serious and is concentrating on his exercises.  Once they are finished Riker bursts into a happy, barking dance quite pleased with himself!  It is quite comical to watch.  Riker sat through large dogs visiting him and sniffing his butt during the group sit/stay like a trooper.  Riker had two high in class scores of 193 & 1/2 and 191 & 1/2 and was in a run-off for second place with a score of 190.  Riker was also a mere 1/2 point away from high in trial twice.  Unfortunately he was sitting on two qualifying scores for his Pre-Novice (that he received before 12 months of age) when he entered and finished his Novice title, so he is not able to go back and get that last PCD score.  Riker received his CGN title as a puppy before he was 12 months old.  In 2006 Riker received 2 obedience titles:  CGN CD.  Riker will be competing in Open B Obedience in 2007 with Kellie.

Although Seven is now living with her new family, Jim and Bonnie Smith, she was trained and handled by Kellie to acheive her PCD title and 2 qualifying scores to her Novice Obedience title in 2006.  Seven may be back out to get that last leg to her CD title in 2007

Dash has been making his presence known out in the conformation ring.  With limited showing Jeff has handled Dash to achieve 2 Best of Breed wins, a third Best of Winners, and 8 reserve wins.  All of these wins were done while Dash was blowing his puppy coat.  Once Dash coats back up, he will be out again to get those last few points and finish his championship.

Brodie is trained and handled by Kellie.  Brodie is a happy little guy that loves working but sometimes suffers from "Boy Brain" during competitions where there are female dogs in heat.  It's one of the downfalls of working with a stud dog, however, Brodie did have an amazing year.  Brodie received some special awards this year:  He placed third at the Sheltie National Specialty in the most versatile sheltie competition (if only we had entered the herding trials....sigh).  He also made the first cut in conformation as a special at the Sheltie National.  Brodie received one of the only two High in Trial awards offered in the CKC agility trials in 2006.  His CD title was acheived with one High in Class score.  Brodie received 8 new titles in 2006:  CGN CD AGNJ AGNS AGNJS AGI AGIS AGIJS.  Brodie will be out again competing with Kellie in 2007.  There will also be a Brodie/Bitsy litter of puppies!
